Voltage Sags & Momentary Interruptions: There is increased sensitivity of power electronic equipment. Add to this the possibility of voltage interruptions and voltage sags, the combo of which can result in the most perceivable PQ events. Programmable controllers, office equipments, computers, induction heating furnaces and adjustable-speed drives can be highly sensitive to these types of events. Usually, sags come about when the utility power system has temporary faults and thereby there is a significant fall in the voltage levels. Needless tripping of sensitive industrial loads can lead to some equipment downtime, dent the bottom line and lower productivity and this is precisely the reason why equipment sensitivity to these events is such a crucial factor.

Transients: DC & AC Drives, in addition to other electronic loads could be pretty sensitive to transient voltages. The devices are built with tolerance levels that are more often than not, less than other forms of loads including normal motors.
